Kiehl's Bad Ass Motorcycle Gang, the LifeRiders

By Laura Medina

Kiehl's LifeRider Motorcycle Gang: Chris Salgardo, Gilles Marini, Katee Sackhoff, & Marguerite Moreau.

When this scribe witness first-hand the army of celebrity motorcyclists striding into The Grove in Los Angele's trendy Mid-Wilshire District, U2's and B.B. King's "When Love Comes to Town" lyrics come to mind:
"When love comes to town,
I'm gonna jump that train
When love comes to town,
I'm gonna catch that flame.
Maybe I was wrong to ever let you down,
But I did what I did before love came to town."

Gilles Marini, left; Sharon Stone, middle; & Tricia Helfer, right.

"Love, Compassion, and charity" do come to mind when thinking about the altruistic All-American apothecary, Kiehl's.  What can be more All-American than Harley-Davidson choppers, the open road, and charity?

When celebrities such as Gilles Marini, Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer, Marguerite Moreau, Jason Lee, Kurt Yaeger, and Teddy Sears gang up together for the shared love of Kiehl's and motorcycles, why not form a celebrity motorcycle gang, Kiehl's LifeRiders and hit the open road to raise money for charities that are the near and dear to Kiehl's heart: the environment (that's where Kiehl's recycling program comes in), children, and AIDS research.  This is where Sharon Stone comes in.

During the LifeRiders' nine-days trek from the Pacific Northwest to the sunny Los Angeles, at each stop of the seven Kiehl's shops tour mingling with the public and fans, the company donate a total of $125,000 over the course of the ride.  The riders gain additional donations from sales generated at each stop then add it on.  This motorcycling fundraiser generated a total of $150,000 for AmFar, The Foundation for AIDS Research, is one of the world’s leading nonprofit organizations dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy.

The whole LifeRiders Gang, Sharon Stone, and Kiehl's President and head of the LifeRider Gang, Chris Salgardo presented the check at the final stop, The Grove.

The fun and love didn't stop there. Once the check was presented, let the fair begin!

Kelis got the show and fair pumping with a free thirty-minute concert for everyone and all the shoppers, visitors, and press at The Grove.

DJ Spinderella kept it going for the rest of the afternoon while Kiehl's shared the love with a mini fair of...

a motorcycle photo booth, a temporary classic American Naval tattoo booth for the big and little kiddies, and stalls of 15% discounted Kiehl's products on sale for that day only.

The LifeRiders will continue to the Big Apple eventually.  If you want to follow them on their journey, you

every themed picture they'll post live from the ride, post your own within the same theme, tag them,

Come see your favorite celebrity stride into town on their Harleys, wearing the hip and rugged Belstaff motorcycle jackets and coats that are practical and approachable, hang out with them and find some Kiehl's while helping out their favorite charities.

Kiehl’s will offer a Celebration Discount of 15% off all purchases at each LifeRide stop store for two days: the day it is hosting an event and either the day before or after (check with each store for details.) In addition, Kiehl’s will offer the 15% Celebration Discount at remaining Kiehl’s retail stores nationwide, August 10 and August 11. Kiehl’s will donate that 15% difference to amfAR, up to the $125,000 total donation.

Now, you all will be wondering what these celebrities use while on the open road, out in the open elements, to take care of their skin, as in wind-burnt chapped skin and lips. Especially, since the LifeRiders want to hit Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota.

For the men, obviously, they'll go for Facial Fuel UV Guard SPF 50+, the fast-absorbing sunscreen for men.  An ultra-lightweight, non-sticky, fragrance-free and oil-free, energizing, lightweight daily sun shield specifically formulated for men with Caffeine and Vitamins C & E to energize and invigorate tired and dull skin on the long haul.

The women want both protection, coverage, and treatment all rolled up in one in their motorcycle jacket pockets.  The BB Cream - Actively Correcting and Beautifying with SPF 50 PA+++ formulated with a high level of Vitamin C, known for its powerful clarifying action with all day hydration as it conceals imperfections with lightweight, buildable coverage AND is clinically proven to correct skin tone irregularities.  This is a Swiss Army Knife of a foundation for the lady bikers.

Of course, folks love the lip-smacking Mint, Mango, and Cranberry-flavored Lip Balm drenched in Squalane, Lanolin and Sweet Almond Oil, as well as Vitamins A and E with Octinoxate, a mild sunscreen of SPF 4.

For their weather-beaten hands, they rely on Limited Edition Ultimate Strength Hand Salve is formulated for the driest, most active hands.  This heavy-duty moisture treatment is a thick, rich formula offering
all-day care and protection. Their blend of select ingredients allows skin to actually draw and absorb water from the air, forming a "glove-like" protective barrier against moisture loss. A glove in a tube.

Yeah, Kiehl's was really freaking cool when the LifeRiders blow into town.
